Re: BPQ settings page
Hi Kenny,
Yesterday, after I read your message re:LDI, I checked my Nodes table on BRIARY and could not find GB7LDI or G3LDI-11. However, as a further measure, I have also blocked port1 (UDP) and port3 (RF), just in case LDI was digiing into me via MB7UH in Colchester.
I have had no further problems with the 2 CB calls which I blocked at John"s request whilst he sorted out a compatability bug with his software..the CB stations were causing my system to hang.
As a point of information, John dislikes blocking.
The sysntax required is MB7xyz,0,1...MB7xyz,0,2..the last digit being the port number. You will probably need 2 entries per MB7 call.
John will have to get used to the notion of MB7 gateways blocking expired NoVs..our NoV might depend on it.
When I blocked the 2 CD calls which were causing a problem, N9PMO and VE7UIL did the same to help purge the network. It depends very much on where they are getting in, but at least if I block them, they should not pass on via my nodes list to 9PMO/7UIL.. LDI could be getting in via all/any digi in RF range of his station unless they ALL block him.
If he is still getting into me his route in is indirect.
Hope this helps,
73,
Duncan

Keeny,
Have a look at my Routes tables..

PS. for this to be effective ALL the UK stations in our Nodes table need to block them. GM7YEW et al.

Re: BPQ settings page
Hi Kenny,
A further thought...there must be a finite time built into Johns software to accept/reject a callsign..i.e it needs to compare each incoming call with the reject list and decide to accept...pass on to next stage, or reject and send to the bit bucket. If the reject list is too long, what then?

Duncan

Re: BPQ settings page
Hi Duncan
that was a lot of typing for you..hi
all understood,i will start to add who i wish to block.
as you say our Nov's & Licence could be at risk
with all these expired & CB callsigns getting in on the network.
all Ofcom require us to do is keep them out of the network.
I did ask John many months ago about blocking CB & Unlicenced Calls, but he said
he will not add such a feature too the program.
i feel i have no real control with BPQ Aprs,as certain feature that an Igate would need are not going to be included
as you know i run the T2England Apr-is server here,i can block callsigns without any problem
which i have done for the last couple of years, most i blocked at one go was about 70 CB callsigns that were coming in via
a french station who was connected to the T2 network

You will have to excuse the adverts that have appeared, part of having a freeby forum.
i am still looking for Forum code that i can run here on my system.

Re: BPQ settings page
OK Kenny,
I will peruse your expired MB7 NoV list, looking for the stations closest to me and start by blocking them
I must have been lucky so far, I havent seen an ad on your forum. I have it on good authority that my daughter is asking Father Christmas to find me another wireless keyboard thats got accessible punctuation marks! This old Dell keyboard is driving me mad!
My Bravenet QSL Card Album suffers from the ad problem and I have no intention of paying them to remove them. I will find something else sometime.

Re: BPQ settings page
Kenny,
The blocking mechanism on UI-View was quite good in that it let you decide what callsigns/beacons to pass. Johns last remark to me was to remove the block on the CBs once he solved the problem..I remembered to forget to do it.

Re: BPQ settings page
Hi Duncan
Ui-view32 had what it takes to do the job.
I still have uiview32 setup, may run it again one day,
depends on how BPQ Aprs goes.
BPQ Aprs is miles behind still in my opinion and the BBS side of the program has a long way to go.
The Americans see too send WP@WW which pointless,
WP should only go the the BBS's you forward with.
but Packet, thats another topic

Re: BPQ settings page
Hi Duncan
Did you add the new line to your BPQ config that John mentioned about logging L4 connections (update linbpq 6.0.12.12 Jan 2016)
add new line to your linbpq config
LogL4Connects=1
it saves the log file outside of the Linbpq folder
same line goes in all versions of BPQ config using the new update
use the linux terminal command wget to download the update
example:-
wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31910649/linbpq
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31910649/bpq32.zip
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31910649/linbpq

Re: BPQ settings page
Thanks Kenny,
I had seen the discussion but not John's suggestion. I will do that.
I saw what I thought was a 'strange' Dutch node in my listing last night, but it turned out after checking to be a bona-fide amateur.
Incidentally, another tale of woe.
I discovered, when mobile, on Saturday, that no traffic was reaching me from MB7UEK. Early yesterday morning I pulled my SWR bridge out of mothballs and calibrated it for fsd using the IC-706MkIIG. When I checked the RF out from the PMR rig there was no RF out on the high or low power settings. I have emailed Fraser, who will come over and collect it sometime this week. Provisional diagnosis is that the PA block amplifier has failed.
Interim setup.
The PMR radio is connected to the pi supporting MB7UEK
My IC-706 can be connected to the pi supporting G4MKI-3, mainly because the
TNC<>radio connections are totally different.
So, I have copied the APRServe section of bpq32.cfg to the pi connected to the IC-706 which is now masquerading as MB7UEK.
If you experience connection problems with XR32 let me know..at the moment all seems well.
I always monitor my MB7UEK output and pump it into the RX only input of xr32.
Unfortunately, the PMR's local oscillator puts out a big enough signal to drive the IC2E sitting in the shack next to it!

Hi Kenny,
How recent are the updates referred to in your previous message?
I updated last when I installed linbpq in Mint, a few days ago.

Kenny,
Re: wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31918649/bpq32.zip
When bpq32.zip is unzipped, the file it produces is bpq32.dll (a widows dynamic linked library file) seems a bit odd to be placing that in a linux version /linbpq ??

Re: BPQ settings page
Hi Duncan
i was not sure which version you were using, linbpq or Pi linbpq
John released the update today.
the Log file works ok,but John has made an error,so he will be releasing another
update very soon.
the file is store outside of the linbpq folder in the Home directory.
John intended for it to be in the linbpq folder
the wget command saves you having to find the updates on John various websites.
this one is for the linbpq

Re: BPQ settings page
Hi Duncan
Just been looking at John G8BPQ nodemap,
it is rampant with CB calls
http://nodemap.g8bpq.net:81/
Aprs is becoming a joke,
none of the main T2servers are making any effort to block these stations.
GM0HBI-10 has been going through on my screen when the node list refreshs.
i cannot find any thing about GM0HBI apart from his details are coming from a CB node thats connected to the Ham Network.
messages about the subject on the BPQ yahoo group,John has said he does not want to see anymore messages about it.

Re: BPQ settings page
Hello Duncan
at least you are up to date with BPQ
the wget is a handy command,i use it most times for downloading programs
wonder if the L4Log.txt can be routed to a self updating web page.

Re: BPQ settings page
Hi Kenny,
My L4Log.txt file is in the main /linbpq directory, and is a daily file. It could be moved using cron/crontab to the HTML folder periodically and read from there as L4Log.* to get round the date extension. Presumably, your updating BBS bulletin pages could provide a model for web display.
John might be persuaded to change the destination to /linbpq/HTML, to simplify things, or use his webmail template and do the job that way. It is certainly food for thought.

Re: BPQ settings page
Kenny,
Taking it a little further, my L4Log.txt is a record of all my local connects and BBS/Chat link connections (bulletin drops, keepalives etc). They don''t need to be recorded there A filter facility (exclusion list, by call) would be useful to remove the stuff you know about in L4Log.txt

Re: BPQ settings page
Hi Kenny,
Yes, wget is a very useful facility. More often than not I forget to close the application down and remove the old file before I invoke it. Otherwise, I end up with pilinbpq.1 and then have to rename it!
